Mallorca deep water soloing

Deep water soloing in Mallorca felt like stepping into a climbing video for the first time. Crystal blue water below, sharp limestone above, and no ropes anywhere in sight — just climbing and committing. I’d seen videos of it for years, but actually pulling onto the rock above the ocean was a completely different experience.

The climbing itself was incredible. The rock was covered in pockets and tufas, and every route felt adventurous in a way that gym climbing or even normal sport climbing never does. The hardest part wasn’t always the moves — it was trusting yourself enough to keep climbing when the only protection was the water beneath you. The higher I got, the louder my brain became, but eventually the fear turned into excitement.

Falling into the ocean between attempts made the whole experience feel surreal. One minute you’re fighting to stay on the wall, and the next you’re floating in the Mediterranean looking back at the climb you just tried. It’s probably the most fun I’ve ever had climbing.

Mallorca ended up being one of those climbing trips that reminds you why you started climbing in the first place — adventure, movement, and doing something that feels just a little unreal.
